Buying

Is it safe to buy a used PC here?

Yes. You always pay AS Computers through Stripe, never the seller directly. For PCs from private sellers and customers we sell for, we hold the money until you've got the PC and you're happy. Every listing is checked by our team before it goes live.

What's the difference between "Sold by AS Computers" and a private seller?

"Sold by AS Computers" PCs are either our own stock (with full consumer rights, a 14-day right to cancel and our 6-month warranty) or PCs we sell for their owners (you collect them from the owner). Private seller PCs come from individuals - you're covered by our buyer protection, but not the rights you'd have buying from a business.

How do I pay?

By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on Stripe's secure checkout. We never see your full card details. Never pay a seller by bank transfer or cash for a PC listed here.

How quickly will my PC arrive?

Private sellers must post within 3 days with a tracked service, and we email you the tracking number. Collections should happen within 7 days. If a seller misses the deadline, you're refunded automatically.

What is my collection code?

A 6-digit code in your order confirmation and on your order page. Give it to the seller when you collect - but only once you've checked the PC and you're happy, because it confirms you've received it.

What if the PC isn't as described?

Contact us before you confirm you've received it (or, at collection, don't hand over your code). We'll look into it and, if it isn't as described, refund you.

Can I return a PC if I change my mind?

For PCs sold by AS Computers from our own stock, yes - within 14 days of receiving it. Private sales and custom builds can't be returned just for a change of mind. See Returns & refunds for the details.

Selling

How much does it cost to sell?

Listing is free. If your PC sells through checkout, we keep a 5% fee from the sale price. You also get the delivery charge the buyer paid, to cover postage.

How and when do I get paid?

By bank transfer to the UK account you add in your account. You're paid once the buyer confirms they've got it, gives you their collection code, or 14 days after you send it - whichever comes first.

How do I post my PC?

When it sells, open the sale in your account and follow the steps: pack it safely, book a tracked courier (we link to the main ones), then enter the tracking number. You have 3 days.

What happens if I can't send it?

Cancel the sale from your account and the buyer is refunded straight away. There's no fee. If you don't send it in time, it's cancelled automatically.

What does "We sell it for you" cost?

7% of the sale price (minimum £30.00), only if it sells. Your PC stays with you, we write and publish the listing, and the buyer collects from you after paying us.

Do I have to pay tax on what I sell?

Selling your own unwanted things usually isn't taxable, but if you buy and sell PCs to make money, you may need to tell HMRC. By law we may have to report sellers who make 30 or more sales, or about £1,700 or more, in a year.

Custom builds

How accurate are the prices?

Our build prices use real UK part prices, checked regularly. We confirm the exact price in your quote before anything is ordered.

Is there a warranty?

Yes - 6 months on parts and our workmanship, on top of your legal rights.

Can I cancel a custom build?

You can cancel before we start building it. Because it's made to your specification, you can't cancel for a change of mind once we've started, but your rights if it's faulty still apply.

Your account

How do I close my account?

Go to Account details and choose "Close account". You'll need to finish any sales or orders in progress first.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Use our contact form and choose "My personal data". We'll reply within one month.
